Why a Free CD Still Matters in the Streaming Age
Streaming made music weightless. A physical disc gives fans something to hold — and gives artists something to sign.
Read the article
Most music today lives on a phone. It is convenient, but it is also forgettable: a song you streamed once can disappear into an endless playlist. That is exactly why the Platinum Superstore puts a free music CD in every order.
Physical music is a keepsake
A CD has artwork, liner notes and a case you can hand to an artist after a show for an autograph. Collectors keep them for years. For a lot of fans, a disc is the difference between "I heard that song" and "I own that album."
It helps independent artists
When you buy a single for $0.99 or a CD for $9.99 directly from the Superstore, the money goes to Platinum City and its artists instead of being split across a long chain of middlemen. Direct sales also tell the artist who their real supporters are.
One stop for music, merch and gifts
The Superstore was built so you do not have to hop between sites. Download exclusive tracks, order a signed box set, or pick up Platinum City streetwear and novelty gifts in one place. Clothing and merch orders are confirmed by email with a secure PayPal invoice, and you do not need a PayPal account to pay — all major cards are accepted.
Gift ideas that actually get used
Shopping for a music lover? Pair a CD with a Platinum City tee. Buying for a comedy fan? Our comedy albums are a great stocking stuffer. And because every purchase includes a free CD, every gift comes with a bonus.
How to shop
Pick a district, step into the Platinum Tower, and choose Songs, CDs or Merch. Downloads are delivered by email within 24 hours, and CDs ship in 3–5 business days for a flat $3.99.

How Independent Artists Can Get Discovered in 2026
Talent is step one. Here is what separates artists who get noticed from the ones who stay stuck.
Read the article
Every day, tens of thousands of new tracks hit the streaming services. Standing out takes more than a good song — it takes a plan.
Finish the song before you promote it
Get a professional mix and master. Listeners and curators decide in seconds, and a muddy mix will lose them before the hook.
Release consistently
One song a year is hard to build on. A steady run of singles — every six to eight weeks — gives fans something to come back for and gives platforms more chances to recommend you.
Own your home base
Social apps change their rules constantly. An artist website with your music, videos, press kit and a mailing list is the one place you control. Our neighbors at Casa Bonita Music Records do this with artist sites like YeriCarmona.com.
Use short video on purpose
Clips on TikTok, Reels and Shorts are today's radio. Post the hook, behind-the-scenes studio moments and live performances. Consistency beats perfection.
Build real relationships
Producers, DJs, venue owners, playlist curators and other artists are your future collaborators. Show up, support others and follow up professionally.
Submit your demo
Platinum City has developed artists for years, and the Music Hall accepts demos in Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop and Latin. Send your best two or three songs, a short bio and your social links. Make it easy to listen — one link, no downloads required.
Support the scene
Buying a $0.99 single or a CD directly from the Music Hall is one of the most powerful things a fan can do. Direct sales put money in artists' pockets and fund the next record.

Music and Comedy on One Stage: Why the Mix Works
A great night out has rhythm. Pairing live music with stand-up keeps the energy moving all night.
Read the article
Most venues book either a concert or a comedy show. Platinum City built its reputation on doing both at once — and audiences keep coming back for it.
Different energy, same room
Music lifts a crowd; comedy releases it. Alternating the two keeps people engaged for a full evening instead of fading after the first hour. Every act also gets introduced to a crowd that might never have bought a ticket for them alone.
A proven format
Platinum City's Music & Comedy Concert Series has played rooms like the Beacon Theatre, B.B. King's, Symphony Space and the 40/40 Club. Sponsor-funded shows make it possible to put established names and rising talent on the same bill.
Tips for comedians who want to get booked
Have a tight, clean five minutes and a strong fifteen. Record your sets — even from a phone at the back of the room — and send the best one. Know your audience: a mixed music-and-comedy crowd wants energy and relatability. Be easy to work with: on time, on length, and promoting the show on your own socials.
For venues and sponsors
A combined show sells to two fan bases at once. Turnkey packages cover talent, run of show and sponsor visibility, so a venue can host a full event without building it from scratch.
Get on the guest list
Join the guest list in the Comedy Club for dates, venues and presale access. Comedians can submit a set, and promoters can send a booking inquiry right from the district.

How to Pitch a TV Show: A Beginner's Guide
Great ideas are everywhere. A pitch that is clear, short and ready to produce is rare.
Read the article
Thinking about pitching a series? Most pitches fail not because the idea is bad, but because the creator cannot explain it quickly. Here is how to get ready.
Start with a logline
Sum up the show in one or two sentences: who it is about, what they want, and what stands in their way. If you cannot say it in one breath, keep working on it.
Know your format
Is it a scripted half-hour comedy, an hour-long drama, a reality series, or an animated show? Each has different budgets, lengths and buyers. Be specific.
Write a one-page overview
Include the logline, main characters, tone (name a couple of comparable shows), and what happens in the first season. Keep it to one page.
Have something to show
A pilot script, a short sizzle reel or a proof-of-concept video makes your idea real. With today's phones and editing apps, a well-made two-minute teaser is within reach of almost anyone.
Protect your work
Register your script or treatment with the U.S. Copyright Office or the WGA registry before sending it around, and keep records of who you pitched and when.

Platinum City TV Studios develops scripted, unscripted and animated concepts, led by a New York Film Academy–trained director with a Comedy Central background. Use "Pitch a Show" in the TV Studios to send your logline and overview. Brands interested in integration can also sponsor a series.

From Script to Screening: How an Independent Film Gets Made
Every film follows the same road — development, pre-production, production, post and release. Here is the map.
Read the article
Independent films get made every year on modest budgets. The ones that make it to the screen tend to follow a clear process.
1. Development
It starts with a story: an original script, a true story or a documentary subject. In development the script is rewritten, the budget is estimated and the rights are secured.
2. Pre-production
Casting, locations, crew, schedules and permits. Good pre-production is the cheapest way to save money — every problem solved on paper is one you do not pay for on set.
3. Production
The shoot itself. Documentaries may film over months or years; a small feature might shoot in a few weeks. Sound matters as much as picture — audiences forgive grainy images faster than bad audio.
4. Post-production
Editing, music, sound mixing, color and titles. This is where the film is truly written for the last time. Clearing music rights early avoids painful surprises later.
5. Release
Festivals, screenings, streaming platforms and community events. A strong trailer and a clear audience plan help a film find its viewers.

How to Get Your Song Played on Independent Radio
Commercial radio is hard to crack. Independent and internet stations are where new artists get their first spins.
Read the article
Getting on the radio still matters. A spin puts your name next to established artists and introduces you to listeners who are actively looking for something new. Independent and internet stations are the most realistic place to start.
Send a radio-ready version
Stations need a clean edit — no explicit lyrics — at broadcast quality. Keep intros short; most programmers skip songs that take too long to get going. Include the song length and whether it is clean.
Make the submission easy
One email, one link, one song. Add a two-line bio, your location, your genre and where people can find you. Label your file clearly: Artist – Title (Clean).
Register so you get paid
If you wrote the song, join a performing rights organization (PRO) such as ASCAP or BMI so you collect when it is played. If you own the recording, register with SoundExchange for digital radio play in the U.S.
Promote the spin
When you get played, tell your fans when and where to listen. Stations notice artists who bring listeners.

Starting a Podcast: What You Really Need
You do not need a professional studio to start. You need a clear idea, decent audio and a schedule you can keep.
Read the article
Podcasts are one of the easiest ways for artists, comedians and entrepreneurs to build a loyal audience. Here is what matters when you are getting started.
A clear concept
Who is the show for, and why would they come back every week? "Conversations about music" is broad. "Independent artists explain how they paid for their first album" is a show.
Good audio beats fancy video
Listeners will forgive a simple setup, but not bad sound. A decent USB or XLR microphone, a quiet room with soft surfaces and headphones go a long way. Record each speaker on their own track when you can.
A schedule you can keep
Weekly or every other week is a good start. Record a few episodes before you launch so you have a buffer.
Make it easy to find
Pick a clear title, write strong episode descriptions and design simple, readable cover art. Cut short clips for social media — that is how most new listeners discover a show.
Money comes from relationships
Sponsors care about an engaged audience more than raw numbers. Host-read ads, branded segments and live events are common ways podcasts earn.
Join the Platinum City Podcast Center
The Podcast Center hosts conversations on music, comedy, business and culture. Pitch your own show, request to be a guest if you are an artist, comedian or founder, or sponsor an episode with a host-read ad.

Virtual Meet-and-Greets: Getting Closer to the Artists You Love
Live video lets fans and artists connect without a plane ticket — and gives talent a new way to earn.
Read the article
Not every fan can get to a show in New York, Miami or Los Angeles. Live video changes that. A virtual meet-and-greet puts fans face to face with an artist or comedian from anywhere in the world.
What fans get
A real moment: a quick conversation, a personalized shout-out, a question answered, or a group watch party for a new video or special. For many fans, that personal connection means more than a photo at a crowded event.
What talent gets
Video sessions are a direct way to monetize a fan base — private one-on-one calls, small group rooms or ticketed watch parties. They work from home, on tour, or between studio sessions, and they build loyalty that carries over to music sales and tickets.
Tips for a great session
Use good lighting and a stable internet connection. Keep sessions on schedule. Set clear rules for conduct, and never share personal contact details or payment info outside the official platform.
Safety first
Fans should only book through official links, and should never send money to someone claiming to be an artist in direct messages. Real artists will not ask you for gift cards or wire transfers.

The Platinum City Video Chat Lounge is opening soon with fan meet-and-greets, one-on-one artist sessions and virtual watch parties. Fans can join the waitlist now, and talent can apply to host a room.

Online Dating Safety: 10 Rules Worth Following
Meeting someone new online can be great. These simple habits help keep it safe and fun.
Read the article
Online dating has become one of the most common ways people meet. Most people are exactly who they say they are — but a few simple habits help you stay safe while you find out.
Before you meet
- Take your time. Chat on the app before moving to text or social media.
- Do a quick search. Make sure the name and photos match a real person.
- Video chat first. A short call confirms you are talking to who you think you are.
- Never send money. Not for an emergency, a ticket, a gift card or an "investment." A request for money is the number one sign of a romance scam.
- Protect your details. Keep your home address, workplace and financial information private until trust is earned.
When you meet
- Meet in a public place — a café, restaurant or event.
- Tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Arrange your own transportation so you can leave whenever you want.
- Watch your drink and stay in control.
- Trust your gut. If something feels off, it is fine to leave. Report any suspicious behavior to the platform.

Building Something That Lasts: Lessons From Men Who Mentor
The men worth spotlighting are not just successful. They bring other people up with them.
Read the article
Men of Platinum City profiles the men building something — artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, mentors and style leaders. Across very different careers, the people who inspire us tend to share a few habits.
They play the long game
Overnight success is usually ten years of quiet work. Building a business, a catalog of music or an athletic career takes consistency — showing up when nobody is watching.
They invest in their reputation
Being on time, keeping your word and treating people with respect pays off for decades. In music, sports and business, people hire and recommend the ones they trust.
They mentor
The strongest leaders pass on what they know — coaching a youth team, helping a younger artist read a contract, or giving a new entrepreneur an honest opinion. Mentorship builds communities, not just careers.
They take care of themselves
Health, family and mental well-being are part of success, not distractions from it. Rest, exercise and time with the people who matter keep the engine running.
They present themselves with intention
Style is not about expensive clothes. It is about looking like you mean it: clean, put-together and true to who you are.

Self-Publishing Your Book: A Simple Roadmap
You do not need a big publisher to get your story into readers' hands — but you do need a plan.
Read the article
Memoirs, business books, poetry and the stories behind the music — independent authors are publishing more than ever. Here is a straightforward path from manuscript to bookshelf.
1. Finish and edit
Write the full draft, then rest it before revising. Get at least one professional edit or a set of trusted beta readers. Readers notice typos, and they leave reviews about them.
2. Design matters
People really do judge a book by its cover. Invest in a professional cover and a clean interior layout for print and e-book.
3. Get your book numbers
An ISBN identifies your book to stores and libraries. In the U.S., ISBNs are sold through Bowker. Some platforms offer free ISBNs, but they may list the platform as the publisher.
4. Choose your formats
Print, e-book and audiobook reach different readers. Audiobooks have grown fast, and memoirs read by the author are especially popular.
5. Launch with a plan
Line up early readers for reviews, plan a launch event or live reading, and share excerpts on social media. A mailing list is your best long-term marketing tool.

The Power of Gospel and Inspirational Music
From church choirs to the charts, faith-based music has shaped American sound — and it is still growing.
Read the article
Gospel and inspirational music have always been at the heart of American music. The vocal styles, harmonies and call-and-response of the church shaped soul, R&B, rock and hip-hop. Many of the greatest singers of all time first found their voice in a choir.
Music that carries a message
Faith-based songs speak to hope, gratitude, struggle and redemption — themes that reach people of every background. That is why inspirational music finds listeners well beyond the church walls.
A new generation of artists
Today's gospel and worship artists blend traditional sounds with contemporary R&B, hip-hop, Latin and pop production. Independent faith artists can now record, release and grow an audience the same way any other artist can.
Tips for faith-based artists
Keep production quality high — your message deserves to be heard clearly. Release music consistently and share the story behind each song. Partner with local ministries and community events to perform live.
Community, not just content
A song can bring people together, but so can a food drive, a youth program or a community concert. Faith communities do a lot of good work that deserves more visibility.
Welcome to the Faith Center
The Platinum City Faith Center is a place for gospel, worship and inspirational music, faith podcasts and community events. All faiths are welcome. Faith-based artists can submit music, and ministries and community groups can list their events, services and outreach for the whole city to see.

Coming Soon Listings: How to Get a First Look at New York Homes
In a competitive market, the buyers who are ready on day one have the advantage.
Read the article
In much of New York, good homes move quickly. One of the best ways to stay ahead is to watch for "Coming Soon" listings — homes being prepared for market that are not yet open for showings.
What "Coming Soon" means
On OneKey MLS, the multiple listing service serving much of the New York area, a Coming Soon listing must go Active within 14 days of the listing date, and no showings are allowed until the On Market Date. That window gives prepared buyers time to get organized.
How buyers can get ready
Get pre-approved, not just pre-qualified, so your offer is taken seriously. Know your must-haves and deal-breakers. Have your documents ready: pay stubs, tax returns and bank statements. Line up your attorney, since New York purchases typically involve one.
Tips for sellers
Marketing can start before a home hits the market. A Coming Soon period builds interest while you finish repairs, staging and photos, so your home launches with buyers already waiting.
For investors
Multi-family homes, fix-and-flip properties and rentals each come with different numbers. Run the math on rents, taxes, insurance and repairs, and leave room for the unexpected.

Picture Cars: How to Rent Your Ride for Music Videos and Shoots
That car you love could be the star of the next music video — here is how picture-car rentals work.
Read the article
Exotics, classics, customs and superbikes have always been part of music-video culture. Producers need great cars, and owners can earn by renting them for shoots.
What productions look for
Clean, eye-catching vehicles: exotics and luxury cars, vintage classics, lowriders, custom builds and superbikes. Unique colors and detailing help a car stand out on camera.
How it usually works
The production tells you the date, location and what the car will be doing — parked as a backdrop, driven in a scene, or featured in close-ups. You agree on a day rate, hours and who drives. Many owners prefer to drive or be present the whole time.
Protect yourself and your car
Get everything in writing: rate, hours, location, how the car will be used and who is responsible for damage. Ask for proof of the production's insurance, and check your own policy too, since personal auto insurance may not cover commercial use. Do a walk-around with photos before and after the shoot.
Prep for the camera
Wash and detail the car, top up the fuel, and bring a microfiber cloth for quick touch-ups between takes.

What Every Artist Website Needs (and What It Doesn't)
Your website is the one place online you fully control. Keep it simple, fast and built to turn visitors into fans.
Read the article
Social media is rented land: the rules, the reach and even your account can change overnight. An artist website is yours. It does not need to be complicated, but it does need a few essentials.
The must-haves
- Your music, front and center — a player or links to every streaming service.
- A short bio and great photos that press, promoters and fans can use.
- An electronic press kit (EPK): bio, photos, videos, press quotes, stats and contact info on one page.
- Show dates and a way to book you.
- A mailing list sign-up — the most valuable list you will ever own.
- A store for music, merch or tickets.
What you can skip
Auto-playing music, heavy animations that slow the page down, and pages you will never update. A fast, simple site beats a flashy one that takes ten seconds to load on a phone.
Make it mobile-first
Most visitors arrive from a link in your social bio, on a phone. Test every page on your own phone before you share it.
Gear that makes a difference
For home recording and content, the biggest upgrades are usually a good microphone, an audio interface, closed-back headphones and simple lighting for video — before any expensive camera.

Money & Crypto
Financial literacy for creators: royalties, budgeting, business credit, and what crypto and Web3 really mean for artists.
FREEHow Artists Get Paid
Every song earns money in more than one way. Here's the map.
Read the guide
- Two copyrights in every song. The composition (words and melody, owned by songwriters and publishers) and the master recording (the actual recording, usually owned by the artist or label). Each one earns its own money.
- Performance royalties are paid when a song is played on radio, TV, streaming, in venues and businesses. Songwriters collect them by joining a performing rights organization (PRO) such as ASCAP or BMI in the U.S.
- Mechanical royalties are paid when the composition is reproduced — streams, downloads, CDs. A publishing administrator collects these for independent writers.
- Digital performance royalties for the recording (non-interactive streaming like internet radio) are collected in the U.S. by SoundExchange — register as both artist and rights owner.
- Streaming and sales income for the master comes through your distributor (the company that puts your music on Spotify, Apple Music and others).
- Sync fees are paid when music is used in film, TV, ads or games — negotiated per placement, for both the composition and the master.
- Use a split sheet. Before a song is released, everyone who wrote or produced it signs a sheet stating their percentage. It prevents fights and gets everyone paid.
- Register every release with your PRO, publishing admin and SoundExchange — unregistered songs leave money uncollected.
FREECrypto 101: Stay Safe
Plain-English basics before you touch crypto.
Read the guide
- Never share your seed phrase (the 12–24 recovery words). Anyone who has it owns your wallet. No real company or support agent will ever ask for it.
- Exchange vs. wallet: coins left on an exchange are held by that company; a self-custody wallet puts you in control — and makes you fully responsible for backups.
- Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, not text messages, on every exchange and email account.
- Common scams: fake "support" in DMs, giveaways that ask you to send coins first, romance or friendship schemes that push an "investment platform", and brand-new tokens promoted by influencers.
- If it guarantees profit, it's a scam. Prices can fall fast — only use money you can afford to lose.
- Keep records. In the U.S., selling, trading or spending crypto can be a taxable event — save every transaction.
Educational content only — not financial or investment advice. Crypto is volatile; never invest money you can't afford to lose.

Artists, comedians and freelancers get paid in waves. A simple system turns feast-or-famine into steady progress.
Read the article
Creative income rarely arrives on a schedule. A big show or a sync placement can be followed by a quiet month. The goal is to make your money work on your timeline, not the other way around. This is general education, not personal financial advice.
Pay yourself a steady salary
Put all income into one account, then pay yourself the same amount each month from it. In big months the extra builds a cushion; in slow months the cushion covers you.
Set aside taxes first
If you are self-employed in the U.S., taxes are usually not withheld. Many creators move a percentage of every payment into a separate savings account for taxes and make quarterly estimated payments. A tax professional can help you choose the right amount.
Build an emergency fund
Aim for several months of basic living expenses. It is what lets you turn down a bad deal.
Separate business and personal
A separate account for your music or comedy business makes taxes, budgeting and business credit much easier.
Know how you get paid
Royalties come from several places — performance, mechanical and digital royalties for recordings. Register your songs so nothing is left uncollected. Our free guide, How Artists Get Paid, maps it out.
Be careful with crypto and "Web3" promises
Crypto prices can swing sharply. Never invest money you need for rent or bills, and be wary of anyone promising guaranteed returns.

Building a Home Gym on a Budget
You do not need a full commercial gym. A few smart pieces cover almost every workout.
Read the article
A home gym saves time, saves membership fees and removes the excuses. The trick is starting with versatile equipment and adding pieces as your training grows.
Start with the essentials
Adjustable dumbbells or a few pairs of fixed dumbbells, a sturdy adjustable bench, resistance bands and a good exercise mat. With these you can train every major muscle group.
Add as you progress
A pull-up bar, kettlebells and a jump rope add strength and conditioning. If you have the space and the budget, a squat rack with a barbell and plates is the biggest upgrade for serious strength training.
Don't forget recovery
Foam rollers, massage balls and stretching straps help you recover and move better. Yoga blocks and straps make mobility work easier for every level.
Plan your space
Measure first. Leave room to move safely around the equipment, use rubber flooring to protect your floor, and store weights low and secure.
Dress for the work
Comfortable, breathable fitness wear and supportive shoes make training more enjoyable and safer.
Train smart
Warm up, learn proper form before adding weight, and progress gradually. If you have health concerns, check with a doctor before starting a new program.

How to Make Smarter NFL Picks (Without Overthinking It)
Free pick'em contests are about bragging rights. A few simple habits can raise your hit rate.
Read the article
Picking winners every week is part skill, part luck — and a lot of fun when you are competing with friends. Platinum City's weekly NFL picks are free to play. Here is how to sharpen your choices.
Check injuries and lineups late
A starting quarterback or key lineman ruled out can change a game. Final injury reports usually come out near the end of the week, so make your picks as close to kickoff as you can.
Respect home field — but don't overrate it
Playing at home helps, especially in loud stadiums and bad weather, but it is only one factor.
Watch the schedule
Teams on short rest, long road trips or coming off an emotional rivalry game can be flat. Thursday games are often unpredictable.
Look at recent form, not just the record
A team that is 5–4 but healthy and playing well may be better than its record. Turnover luck tends to even out over a season.
Weather matters
Wind and heavy rain or snow can slow down passing teams and favor strong running games and defenses.
Don't chase streaks
Every week is new. Avoid picking with your heart for your favorite team.
Play for fun
Platinum City's picks contests are free and are for entertainment. Each pick locks at kickoff. Join the Founding Player List for early access and a founder badge, and watch for chart-debut, award-show and box-office contests coming next.

How You Can Help Address Homelessness in Your Community
Homelessness is a big problem, but local action makes a real difference. Here is where help goes furthest.
Read the article
On any given night, hundreds of thousands of people across the United States experience homelessness — including veterans, families with children and young people on their own. The biggest drivers are a shortage of affordable housing and rising costs of living. The good news: there are proven ways to help.
Understand what works
Housing-first approaches, which help people into stable housing and then connect them with support services, have strong results. Prevention — helping families keep the housing they have through emergency rent help or job support — is often the most cost-effective step of all.
Give to trusted local organizations
Shelters, youth programs and housing nonprofits know their communities' needs. Cash donations are usually more flexible than goods, but ask what they need most.
Volunteer your time and skills
Serve meals, mentor young people, help with resumes and job applications, or offer professional skills like accounting, design or legal help.
Support young people
Runaway and at-risk youth face unique dangers. Organizations that provide safe shelter, counseling and a path back to school or work change lives.
Treat people with dignity
A respectful greeting, eye contact and knowing where to direct someone to local services all matter.
Help through City Cares
City Cares supports Helps and Cures, a 501(c)(3) providing shelter and hope for runaway and at-risk youth. Donations are processed securely by Square. You can also find resources for families facing housing insecurity through our Homelessness in America partner. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
